INTERNATIONAL MARCONI DAY - 2005

A brief report by Geoff, G0EVW with pictures by Ruth, 2E0RAH

GB0MBS - Radio Shack New Barn Field Centre

Our Radio Shack for the event was at the New Barn Field Centre

This year, most of the Societies effort went into the new station, (GB0MPB) at Portland Bill and operation at Dorchester was limited to Saturday afternoon. Jim was the Station Manager and he teamed up with Graham, 2E1GOQ; Ruth, 2E0RAH; Charlie, 2E1LEC and Geoff, G0EVW. The transceiver, aerial and mast were all supplied by Graham. After working GB0MPB using QRP we finally got up and running at full power by 1200 UTC and went QRT at 1700 UTC. A full size G5RV and just 100 watts had to suffice this year. Band conditions were poor but in the five hours of operation on 80 and 40 metres we still managed to make 75 QSO's .

Thanks are due to Mike, G0NEV for making GB0MBS available again this year, Mike, M0NJR who at very short notice enabled us to collect the generator and of course to the New Barn Field Centre for once again allowing us to use their site.
