SDRS Special Event Callsign GB0PBL
Held at Weymouth Nothe Fort.
THIS EVENT WAS CANCELLED!
20/21 AUGUST 2005 The extensive renovation work taking place at the Nothe Fort meant that the SDRS would not have had access to the upper areas that we normally use to set up our station and therefore the Station Manager Mark, M5MKW reluctantly cancelled our participation in the event this year.

GX3SDS (IMW 5031) OPERATING FROM THE NOTHE FORT WEYMOUTH
June the 14th and 15th 2008
Pictures
of recent events are posted here
www.sdrs.zoomshare.com
The SDRS participates in 'Museums on the air' weekend operating from the Nothe Fort in Weymouth. We are number 5031 on the IMW list and the official event web site with a list of other museums and radio societies taking part can be found at:- www.ukradioamateur.co.uk/imw
For a few years prior to 2005 we used the callsign GB2WNF, although in 2004 the event was combined with the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of D-Day (see GB5OD - GB6OD for more details of that event). In 2005/6 we used GB0NFM (Nothe Fort Museum). In 2007 we decided to use the South Dorset Radio Society callsign GX3SDS for all future events.

NEW RALLY www.westrally.org.uk NEW RALLY
LONGLEAT - THE END ? - This was the last message received in 2003 however the new rally mentioned above is now well established.
The Bristol RSGB Group regret to announce that they have had no alternative but to cancel the 46th Longleat Rally, scheduled to take place on the 29th of June.
Martyn Phillips, G3RFX, goes on to say: "Its such a pity. We had high hopes after Lord Baths personal agreement to the Rally going ahead this year, albeit for the last time at Longleat, but since then weve been unable to reach agreement with his Estate Office on the terms and conditions. They duly presented us with a licence agreement containing several highly debatable liability clauses take it or leave it which nobody in their right mind would have signed. Indeed its almost as if these had been included with the express purpose of making it impossible for us to hold the Rally.
Meanwhile the Bristol RSGB Group are by no means giving up on the Rally front and are currently looking for an alternative venue for 2004 and beyond. A further announcement will be made in due course, when there will hopefully be better news.
I hasten to add that some of the problems regarding the future of the Longleat venue were directly due to the less than responsible behaviour of a very small minority of visitors to the Rally."
AMATEUR RADIO LICENCE INFORMATION
